Staying curious is one of our key Portrait of a Graduate outcomes because we believe curiosity is the foundation of lifelong learning and success. But what does that mean for our students?
Curiosity is more than asking questions—it’s about exploring the world, learning new things, and staying excited about discovery. Research shows that when kids follow their passions, they become more engaged and motivated to learn. That’s why we give all students—from Pre-K through high school—daily time to explore topics they care about.
This FLEX time lets students decide what they want to learn. Whether it’s science experiments, creative writing, or coding, they get to dive into subjects that spark their interest. By doing this, we create an environment where curiosity leads the way.
Experts agree that curiosity is key to learning in today’s fast-changing world. It builds problem-solving skills, creativity, and the confidence to tackle new challenges. At Mid-South Gifted Academy, we believe that nurturing curiosity sets our students up for success, not just in school but in life.
